Advice and guidance for patient participation groups (PPGs)

If you are hoping to start a new PPG or would like some ideas on how to manage your existing PPG then this is a good place to start.

Useful resources recommended by the CCG engagement team are available here plus documents that members of our PPGs would like to share with others.

National Association of Patient Participation (NAPP)

The national voice for patient participation in primary care, online at www.napp.org.uk

The National Association for Patient Participation (NAPP) has launched a new resource guide to help all GP practice patient participation groups (PPGs) work effectively. Their website is awash with useful guides and resources that have been designed to be of use to all PPGs, whether long-standing or recently formed.

Useful resources and toolkits

Community Works support community and voluntary organisations in Brighton and Hove and from 1 July 2016 they also support infrastructure services in Adur and Worthing. To find out how they support the CCGs in Brighton and Hove take a look at their website.

Brighton works have created a patient and participation toolkit.

If you are hosting your own event, perhaps a self care awareness meeting or a fund raising event then you may find this PPG event template a good starting point.

See the patient engagement section of the "Improving access, responding to patients" how-to guide.

Share your good ideas

If your PPG has produced something that you would like to share with others then please complete the simple form, upload your document or photo (if required) and we will do the rest.

It could be an informative patient leaflet that you are proud of, your newsletter or perhaps even your governance documents. We are sure that other PPGs would love to see and learn from what others are doing!
