NHS 111/Clinical Assessment Service procurement for Sussex

As of Wednesday, 13 June 2018 it was agreed by the seven Sussex CCGs accountable officers and clinical chairs to stop the NHS 111/Clinical Assessment Service procurement for Sussex with immediate effect.

We are in the process of communicating this decision out to our clinicians, staff, partners and providers and other key stakeholders.

Ralph McCormack, Senior Responsible Officer said:

“This is not an easy decision to make. I have been in constant communication with our CCGs’ Accountable Officers and Clinical Chairs who feel it is the right decision for our patients, local population, and staff.

"Together the seven Sussex CCGs are committed to integrating urgent care across Sussex and getting this procurement right is the vital start needed for integration to be a success.”

Dr Victoria Beattie, Clinical Lead for the NHS 111 Programme added:

“We have to get this model right for our patients and local population. Making sure we procure a high quality and safe service is paramount.

“It is also very important for us to get this right for our workforce to offer them the opportunities to work flexibly across boundaries and organisations.”

The NHS 111 Transformation Programme has been in constant communications with NHS England, who support our decision to stop the procurement. We will be working with our regulator on the next steps for this process.
