Bognor Regis Minor Injuries Unit open over Easter weekend

Tuesday 16th April, 2019

There is great news for anyone who needs NHS help for a bank holiday injury this weekend.

The Minor Injuries Unit at Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital will be open Friday through to Monday from 9am to 5pm.

The service, run by Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, is opening up especially this Easter weekend to make sure local people can receive the help and care they need.

The team can see both adults and children – anyone who has had a minor injury.

This means that DIY accidents, sports injuries or something you have done while you have been out and about this Easter, can all be seen closer to home – without a trip to A&E.

Experienced emergency nurse practitioners are on hand at the MIU to diagnose and treat minor injuries, and they can also refer you if you need any further help or follow up care.

The MIU is not for anyone who has had a major injury or who is experiencing a major illness, such as chest pain, stroke or severe bleeding.

If you – or a loved one – have any of these symptoms, you need to go straight to the nearest Accident and Emergency department.

It is just one step the NHS is taking to make sure people can get the help and support they need in the most appropriate place over the Easter weekend.

Pharmacies will also be open across towns and villages throughout the weekend to make sure people can get medicines and over the counter advice if you need help.

They can offer free, expert, quick information on a range of illnesses and ailments.

If you need further help when you GP practice is closed and you aren’t sure where to go, you can call NHS 111 for advice.

NHS 111 can help to signpost you to the nearest local NHS service, give you advice so you can treat yourself at home, or book an appointment with an out-of-hours doctor.
