Opportunity to work with us to improve musculoskeletal services

Tuesday 16th July, 2013

The CCG is currently working to redesign musculoskeletal services for patients in Coastal West Sussex.

We are looking at all services in this area including physiotherapy, the current Musculoskeletal Assessment Triage Treatment team (MATT), Extended Scope Physiotherapy (ESP), rheumatology, chronic pain clinics (including psychologists, nurses, physiotherapists and doctors) and orthopaedic surgery.

Working with our partners who provide services, it was agreed that the current system is:

  • Disjointed, inefficient and slow;
  • Includes more steps on the patient’s journey than necessary;
  • Is not efficient in terms of time, capacity and cost;
  • Is contributing to patients waiting longer that we would expect;
  • Not meeting the needs of our patients, with patients reporting dissatisfaction and less than ideal Patient Reported Outcome Measures.

Change is needed and we want to listen to where improvements can be made.

Share your views on current services

An important part of this process is to listen to what current patients and members of the public have to say about local services.

We are holding three sessions for patients and members of the public to come and share their views with us about current services and what could improve.

The sessions are taking place at 1 The Causeway, Goring by Sea, West Sussex, BN12 6BT.

They relate to specific conditions and so if you have experienced care in any of these areas, or have a particular interest in local services please get in touch and come along to share your views.
