Get a free health check at Hotham Park next week

Tuesday 22nd October, 2013

Local people are being offering free health checks and MOT’s by the Western Prevention Assessment Team (PAT) and Arun Wellbeing Team next week.

It’s part of Wellbeing’s Parktastic event on Wednesday October 30, at Hotham Lodge, Hotham Park, Bognor Regis.

Health Advisers from the PAT are offering the health checks, which focus on preventing major causes of illness such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. They are available for anyone aged between 40 and 74-years-old without an existing long-term condition.

West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing Christine Field said: “Each free health check lasts for just half an hour, but the effects of it can last a lifetime. The checks help to identify any possible health problems early, which can make a real difference in years to come.”

The health check includes a blood pressure check, a cholesterol test, and a discussion about family history, and assessment of lifestyle factors (such as smoking) and levels of physical activity.

Anyone not eligible for a health check may be able to have a Wellbeing MOT instead at Parktastic. This involves standing on body composition scales and measuring body fat, hydration levels, muscle mass, how old your body thinks it is, and much more.

Wellbeing MOTs are available for anyone over the age of 18.

Checks are confidential and must be booked in advance. To book an appointment for a free health check or Wellbeing MOT at Hotham Park, please email the Arun Wellbeing team on or call 01903 737862.

Regular health check sessions are also held at Bognor Regis Town Hall Annexe on the second Tuesday of every month – bookings can be taken on 01243 642370.
