NHS urgent and emergency care services provide life-saving care.

The current system is under increasing pressure and NHS England wants to improve the urgent and emergency care system so patients get safe and effective care whenever they need it.

On January 18 2013 NHS Medical Director Professor Sir Bruce Keogh announced a comprehensive review of the NHS urgent and emergency care system in England.

It asked for views and opinions from NHS staff, patients and the public.

Following this engagement period, a report has been published outlining the changes proposed for community, general practice, ambulance and hospital services.

Find out more about the review and read the report.
